Sorrento Implements Strict Dress Code To Maintain Decorum
The mayor of Sorrento, Massimo Coppola announced an order that bans people from walking around in a swimsuit or shirtless. People who violate the new dress code will face a hefty fine that can range from 25 to 500 euros (₹1,998 to ₹39,979). Coppola revealed to media houses that ‘indecent behaviour’ will not be tolerated. The steps have been taken as the mayor wants to protect the livability, quality of life and decorum within the centre of the town and in public places.
Police To Patrol In Town
As Sorrento gears up to become a popular tourist spot, all elements of discomfort for both tourists and Sorrentines are being eliminated to create a more welcoming environment. In fact, the new rules will be so strict that police will patrol the area to enforce the ban on people walking shirtless or in swimsuits. In another Italian town, Rapallo, the skimpy dressing was banned for the same reasons.
